Training Vision Institute is pleased to introduce the Graduate Diploma in Service Management, a product management course in Singapore designed for managers and supervisors to further enhance their leadership skills.

In partnership with The University of Buckingham, this Graduate Diploma contains modules that emphasise in-depth understanding in what it takes to be a service leader in the now digitalised economy. The Diploma will help you enhance your capabilities in developing digital strategies and further improve your skills in digital product management.

As businesses undergo major digital transformation, companies need service leaders that are capable of adapting to change, and effectively manage their products and facilitate their teams amidst the disruption. This programme will help service leaders do just that, boosting their skills through innovation and increase their employability.

The Diploma consists of 8 modules that can be completed in 6 - 8 months.

The programme provides a fast track to a full Master’s Degree at The University of Buckingham. You will also be awarded the Statements of Attainment (SOA) from SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) upon completion of the program.

The module seeks to provide the learner with the knowledge and application skills in developing service operations plans to deliver service excellence, to evaluate their implementation and to take corrective actions for improvement.

This module covers the knowledge and application skills required to plan for and support an organisation’s service operations. It involves the development of an operations strategy, planning processes and infrastructure needed to support service operations, and assessing the organisation’s resource capacity. It also consists of developing performance indicators to measure performance and improve service operations efficiency and planning for business continuity.

The module covers the knowledge and application skills to develop new products or services to address customer needs and expectations. It covers the planning, development and implementation process of the newly developed product or service offering. This module also explores the roles and responsibilities of the New Product Manager and the involvement of the Marketing Department in the launch of a product.

The module addresses the knowledge and application skills required to identify the elements that form customer expectations to provide the desired customer experience that is in line with the organisation’s vision, mission, and values. The module would impart knowledge and skills for learners on various methods to design, innovate and translate the desired customer experience into a service operations plan.

Module 5: Service Leadership for Leaders

This course focuses on the knowledge and skills in leading a service team to deliver service excellence. It involves techniques to promote a customer-centric environment, ways to influence service team towards goals and methods to monitor team performance for continual improvements.

Module 6: People and Relationship Management for Leaders

The module addresses the knowledge and application skills to develop service strategies based on market entry opportunities. The learning outcomes involve developing strategic plans to enter a market based on the organisation’s identified market opportunity. It also involves evaluating the strategy and managing the risks associated with the service strategy.

Module 7: Develop Social Media Strategies (Synchronous e-learning)

Able to acquire the knowledge and abilities of social media marketing to support sales and marketing. It also includes determining the feasibility of using social media platforms and designing, evaluating and refining social media strategies.

Module 8: NICF - Project Management (SF)

The module addresses the knowledge and application skills required to create a project suited to a small-medium enterprise to improve its service management requirements. Learners would also be hands-on to collect artefacts and gather feedbacks and inputs from stakeholders to build on their project.

Academic Minimum Entry Requirement:

  • Obtained a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline in English; or
  • Mature candidate who is 30 years of age with at least 8 years’ supervisory or management experience.

Local Students:

  • Obtained a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline in English; or
  • Mature candidate who is 30 years of age with at least 8 years’ supervisory or management experience.

International (STP) Students:

  • Obtained a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline in English.

Language Requirement:

  • Obtained at least C6 at GCE ‘O’ Level in English Language; or
  • Obtained WPL Level 7 (Average of Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing Scores); or
  • Obtained IELTS 6.0 or equivalent (Applicable for STP students); or
  • Successfully passed TVI English Admission Test.

Other qualifications can be considered for entry if they are deemed to be equivalent and will have to be approved by Director, Central Academic Division (CAD) in TVI.

Each level may be assessed by any combination of written assessment, projects and oral interviews.

The mode of delivery will be a combination of lectures, workshops, group discussions, individual activities, experiential learning with a 1:20 teacher and student ratio.

1. Singaporeans and Permanent Residents have to meet the following conditions to be eligible for SSG fund, failing which the participant will be liable to pay the full course fees to Training Vision Institute.

a) Met minimum 75% in attendance and in E-learning hours

b) Qualify as Competent in all WSQ Assessments

c) Met other SSG eligibility criteria

2. Singapore Citizens can use their SkillsFuture Credit (SFC) to offset the course fee after subsidies.

3. Participant with Post-Secondary Education Account (PSEA) can apply to use the PSEA fund for the course fee.

4. Fee Protection Scheme (FPS) are not included. A non-refundable application fee of $54 for local students and $216 for international students will apply.

Charlene Teo Lek Mei
Associate Trainer

Charlene is an experienced and versatile individual who has worked in people-related industries for over 30 years, ranging from hospitality to education and psychotherapy. She spent 13.5 years with Singapore Airlines, where she retired as a Chief Stewardess. During her tenure, she was involved in training new crew members on inflight service, managing challenging situations, and the crew mentoring programme. Charlene is a certified Specialist Adult Educator (SAE) under the Institute of Adult Learning Professionalization Programme, providing training programmes in Service Leadership, Transactional Analysis, Mindfulness, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, and Family Education for corporate organizations, schools, and government agencies. She is also a registered Counsellor and Clinical Supervisor with the Singapore Association for Counselling and a certified Transactional Analysis Advanced Practitioner with the US Transactional Analysis Association (USTAA). Charlene was the first trainer to convert training to the online platform for Training Vision Institute's Bachelor of Arts degree programme with BathSpa University, UK, in March 2020.

Toh Ser Hai, Ben

Mr. Toh Ser Hai (Ben) is a highly experienced Senior Military Officer who served in the SAF for 30 years, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He managed many mega projects on armour tank design, weapon, and advance sensor development, and was an officer trainer for 5 years, developing NSmen leadership succession planning, training syllabus, and lesson plans. Ben is a key trainer for the Singapore Armed Forces Joint Leadership Course and has attained the Advanced Certification for Training and Assessment (ACTA) and the Diploma in Adult and Continuing Education (DACE) to upgrade his adult education competencies. In addition, he obtained a Master's degree in Training and Development from Griffith University to further enhance his competencies in training and development knowledge. Ben is an effective adult educator who is committed to supporting the government's call for higher adult educator qualifications to train PMET.

Steven Seek

Steven has been a Practising Management Consultant and a Certified Business and Leadership Coach for 9 years, and has established his own consultancy agency. With more than two decades of experience in leadership, strategic and business management, he has become a certified trainer and a dynamic speaker on topics about emotional intelligence and strengths-based leadership. He is currently facilitating the Certified Career Coach Skills program in partnership with International Coach Academy and an approved adult educator at Training Vision Institute.

Celina Anne Gan

Before becoming a trainer, Celina worked in the healthcare and legal industries. She was a registered nurse and midwife in several NHS hospitals in the UK, single-handedly ran an airforce-based ante-natal clinic and conducted parentcraft classes in London. Then she took legal studies in UK and Spain and worked as a legal consultant in the UK, Spain, and Malaysia. Her enriched experience for over 20 years gave her the know-how in working, training and coaching participants from different cultures and work backgrounds across languages. She is currently a trainer, coach and assessor in the International Business Simulation Program at Regent’s University London, addressing ability for leadership and team building, people development, personal mastery and communication skills.

For face-to-face class, a hard copy learner’s guide will be given, for L1 and L3 modules. For L4 and L5 modules, materials are available in TVI Online (Learning Management Systems).
